The Samaritan Support Services of Ottawa Carleton (SSSOC) was opened in 1994 to provide social service programs to the people residing in the Ottawa, Ontario region, regardless of their age, race, religion, or economic status that would enhance their mental, emotional, financial, social, and spiritual quality of life. Whereas even as Jesus, fed the hungry, touched those who were sick, cared for the children, and reached out for the poor and neglected, we must do the same. The SSSOC is committed to be faithful in offering support services that reveal the love of God to those we serve, in a practical and fundamental way.
Clients receive assistance with their income tax preparation. Courses will also be offered on basic budgeting, debt cancellation, and home buying and life insurance information. This program is seasonal and operates on Saturdays from 10am - 1pm from the first Saturday in March until the 3rd Saturday in April (closed Easter weekend).
Students between the ages of 11 to 18 are assisted with their homework and prepared for tests and exams. Included in this program are computer labs, computer lessons, chess and table tennis club, drama team, debating team, and academic guidance counseling.
The SSSOC Food Bank provides emergency food distribution to people in need. The Food Bank is open every Friday from 3-4:30 pm.
Inspired by gospel values, we create and provide innovative programs in social services and education. We believe that strong individuals make for strong families, which in turn make for strong cities and vibrant, healthy communities. People who are broken down cannot reach their full potential. We offer services that will build up the entire person.
Together we can Empower, Affirm, and Motivate people for the future. We aim to strengthen families by feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, comforting the broken hearted, encouraging the imprisoned, supporting the parents, comforting the aged and those who are grieving, and educating the children, youth, and adults in our community.
